TV DIG

Spent Sunday attending the latest monthly meeting of the Thames Valley Digital Imaging Group, a special interest group of the RPS. Quite a good meeting. We had a presentation from the Canon product manager from Europe, the main aim of which was to describe the types of decisions that camera manufacturers have to make, and in the course of doing so justify those that Canon have made over the years. Useful as a quick overview of matters technical on cameras and lenses.

Followed up with a couple of the organisers of the meeting who presented their thoughts on a sharpening workflow. The first part, which focussed on the sharpening tools in PSCS3, pretty much followed the words of Bruce Fraser in Real World Sharpening and took us to the NIK Sharpener plug-in for PS. All quite well known to me but less so to the presenter it seems. Second part looked at the LR capabilities in this area. Here the presenter did not realise that the adjustment brush had a sharpening capability. So a little bit amateur hour but a useful reminder of the power of a sharpening workflow anyway.
