Two Tints

Two examples of tinted B&W photos which seem to bring out more detail than the basic B&W conversion.

A wall relief from Waddesdon Manor in Oxfordshire. While the tinting sets an interesting mood to the picture I was also interested to see that it seems to bring out more detail in the stonework background to the figure, compared to the 'straight' version.

Just an optical illusion I guess, since the two photos have identical treatments apart from the tinting.

In a similar way, the detail in the pavement seems to be better expressed with this blue toning, than in the straight conversion.
